Criminal Code's June 22 show in Kansas City couldn't have taken place at a more perfect venue than The Snake Tank. The Tacoma band played at the clip of your average punk band, but their gloomy, often cavernous post-punk sounds would've sounded at least slightly out of place anywhere other than a dark, subterranean DIY spot. Clean guitar lines would occasionally shine through, but the band was reliable in bringing their compositions back to their dreary, Northwestern roots.

The night's sole opening set was a routinely brief and vicious performance from Devil's Den.
