Watch: Rachel Cion - "Collision" at Kum-N-Go

Olathe singer-songwriter Rachel Cion wielded a guitar for most of her debut solo set but set it down momentarily for her foray into bubbling, R&B pop, "Collision." Preceded by an extended intro crafted by the song's producer and her accompaniment for the night, Alex Manriquez, Cion was completely focused, yet carefree in her first performance of the song, as if she was singing into a comb in the bathroom mirror, but imagining a sold-out theater in front of her. In reality, it was only a few dozen friends, family members, and strangers looking on in the Kum-N-Go basement, but her expressive vocals, powerful harmonies, and fearless presence foreshadow a much larger audience in her future.
