Live This Week: August 1 - 7, 2021

To some extent, it feels like Missouri is living in a different world than the rest of the United States due to the Delta variant. Masks are going back on and a non-zero amount of shows are getting canceled. While our July 4 punk rock blowout was a blast, it feels like it'll be decades before we get to enjoy the unmitigated chaos of coastal hardcore shows as documented on Hate5six and other concert video feeds. Though subculture here lags behind, some mainstream favorites are touching down in Kansas City this week. Trap icon Gucci Mane headlines an outdoor show at Liberty Memorial (is this the first major gig there since Rockfest 2016?), Long-Running Beloved Rock Band(tm) Foo Fighters play Bonner Springs on Thursday, and country superstar/digital streaming holdout king Garth Brooks and his loyal following descend upon Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday. In other news, Shuttlecock will have a table set up at Friday's party/gig/thing at AV Club -- come say hey.
