Down by the river - Kansas City, MO
Based on the word of an Instagram flyer and a location pin shared privately among friends (many punks have deemed Facebook events obsolete, it seems), roughly 100 or so rock fans gathered at the riverfront near City Market for a generator gig last weekend. It was the second or third show for each of the three bands (Valta, Doldrums, and D.Y.E.) and all played with gusto. Moshers moshed, rockers rocked, there was only one brief moment of technical difficulties (an amp head went out during Valta's set and once fixed they continued the set with the flood light turned off), and some patrons even used a milk crate as a neat little trash bin. The first notes rang out around 8:30 P.M. and folks were hiking back to their cars by 10:30 P.M. It was an impressive feat of DIY event production.
