Watch: Speed - "The End Is Near" at Farewell Transmission

There are few days in the year that Kansas City's punks behave most outrageously than Independence Day. Feeling the need to kick their already-grimy performance up another notch for the occasion, Speed's vocalist Jude Cash began the band's set by sending liberal amounts of spit flying at friends standing up front, asking that they return the favor, and later, sending that spit flying at the camera of yours truly. The mutants-with-fireworks era of hardcore punk doesn't seem to be returning any time soon, but this performance of "The End Is Near" made it feel possible.
