Solomon is an artist that has never had any issue experimenting with his sound. His 2019 album,
Song Of Solomon, included tracks that ranged from heartbroken party raps to Chicago drill lite to more somber, introspective moments, perhaps thanks to his time as a poet in high school. His first release of 2021, "Pain Again," sees him in new territory yet again. The song, at this point, is unmixed and a little rough around the edges, but raw too is Solo's emotional performance. The instrumental, courtesy of New York producer Pieper Beats, is a lush, dreamy soul number that gives Solo room to vocalize to his heart's content. Solomon had a rough bout of COVID last year, just months after becoming a first-time father, but "I am a man now, I can move mountains" is a lyric that could inspire regardless of the singer's circumstances. I couldn't think of a better way to start 2021 than premiering this song.
