Readers with even a passing interest in "indie rock" this past decade have same exceptional gigs to choose from in Kansas City and Lawrence this week. Hometown lad Kevin Morby headlines both The Bottleneck and recordBar on Thursday and Friday respectively. Unknown Mortal Orchestra just released its fifth studio album, V, via Jagjaguwar and is set to play Uptown Theater on Wednesday. And if that's not enough independent rock-n-roll for you, Vermont's King Tuff (Smalltown Stardust out now via Sub Pop) plays recordBar on Monday.
Shuttlecock-booked gigs this week include Richmond, Virginia shoegaze band Keep at Farewell on Monday night and Tennessee grindcore band Knoll and California's God Is War at Farewell on Friday night. And right next door on Friday, Flooding kicks off its 12-date Midwest/East Coast tour with a gig at Howdy. Stadium Drive continues to rock.
