The first ever KC Jazz & Heritage Festival kicked off Friday afternoon. Over two dozen jazz, soul, and R&B acts played at in the 18th & Vine District including three outdoor stages, Gem Theater, and The Blue Room. Notable sets included a dazzling headlining performance from R&B pop star Brandy, several renditions of classic country songs by jazz guitarist John Scofield, and a traditional jazz set from Return To Forever member and fusion legend Chick Corea.
