This is one of those weeks in the Midwestern winter where most musicians are hunkering down to do holiday things with their friends and family, working on writing and recording something for next year, or just trying to get some damn rest for once. Given the circumstances, if you haven't yet seen Kansas City-raised, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Scout Gillett, I'd encourage you to catch her show at The Emerald on Thursday. Konrad Hell & The Highwater open that one up -- as classy a bill as the youth of Kansas City's indie rock scene can assemble.

Other acts worth catching this week include No Boys, Maria Elena Silva, The Rackatees, and Limb Dealer.
