A few text messages were sent and Instagram stories posted yesterday afternoon informing friends that the first Loss Prevention show would be held that night. Hours later in the basement where they practice, Kansas City's newest punk band (featuring members of Speed, MRSA, Narc Parade, and other groups) played six snotty, no-schtick hardcore punk songs in 10 minutes to the dozen friends that had gathered to watch. To celebrate guitarist
Bennett Weaver's birthday, fellow guitarist Tommy Sanders hurled a cookie cake into Weaver's face mid-set. Weaver's gift to his friends was a series of blazing mini-solos performed during a few of these songs. Security guards beware, Loss Prevention is ready to rack and roll.
