Kevin Taylor of Porno Glows
Chicago punk band Porno Glows made its inaugural visit to Kansas City on Wednesday for a show at The Snake Tank. The trio's take on the mid-paced West Coast punk of the late seventies had a packed basement full of rockers nodding their heads in unison. Warm Bodies chose to perform last, cranking out songs ranging from their "Domo" to their new 7-inch "My Burning Love" due out next month. Mentira's short set was -- as punks have come to expect -- razor sharp. The show was opened with the first ever set from the Natural Man Band. The group is a five piece that includes a saxophonist and two vocalists (one being Ian Teeple of Warm Bodies). The Natural Man Band plays an often upbeat style of punk that isn't afraid to turn political (not unlike fellow saxophone-toting punks Downtown Boys or The World).
