Chief Keef
Chief Keef, along with producer Young Chop, pioneered Chicago drill music and took its abrasive sound to the forefront of mainstream hip-hop back in 2012. Nearly five years later, after one botched Kansas City date, the impenetrable superstar made his first appearance in the area at The Bottleneck. Chief Keef and his Glo Gang crew (including Ballout, Tadoe, Gambino, and more) were an hour late to the stage on Friday night, but the sold out crowd hadn't moved an inch. Many early moments in Keef's set were devoted to newer tracks that didn't catch the attention of a majority of the eclectic audience and left Keef wandering the stage without aim. After nearly 20 minutes had elapsed, the setlist grew more recognizable. Keef stood at the front of the stage and barked the lyrics to singles off his major label debut "Finally Rich" ("I Don't Like," "Love Sosa") and led lights-out sing-alongs of recent online hits "Earned It" and "Faneto" with gusto.
