Show Me The Body is a trio from New York City rooted in the sound and ethos of punk rock, but ultimately defies classification. Bassist Harlan Steed contributes squealing noise and samples as Julian Cashwan Pratt pounds at his banjo, rapping and shouting yarns of urban decay and systemic cruelty. Noah Cohen-Corbett sits in the back, handling the gut-punching rhythms that tie it all together. Allied with like-minded acts in the Letter Racer collective (home to Ratking and friends), the group has recently forged their own label, Corpus, and released a mixtape featuring collaborations with Princess Nokia, Denzel Curry, Cities Aviv, Moor Mother, and others. Their second full-length, "Dog Whistle," will be released by Loma Vista Recordings this March. Support for this show includes
Spine,
Bath Consolidated, and
Killus.
This will most likely be the second largest show Shuttlecock has thrown so far (second to
The Big Gig, of course). Their Lawrence show in 2016 was
poorly attended. Let's give them a proper Kansas City welcome.
The show is April 15, 2019 at Farewell Transmission in Kansas City, MO (DM @ShuttlecockMag or email AaronRKC@gmail.com for the address). Doors open at 8pm and music starts at 9pm. It's an all ages show. The suggested donation is $10, but no one will be turned away for a lack of funds.
