Hometown Highlights Playlist

To be clear, I do kind of hate the playlist-friendly future we're living in. Mostly due to the fact that many artists are making far less money with their recordings than when music was being sold a la carte. One positive thing about the rise of the streaming playlist, however, is the relative ease of quickly introducing people to entirely new areas of music.

All this is to say that while I mostly hate a "pivot to video" type beat, I am letting you know that our semi-regular Hometown Highlights column -- which ran from April 2016 to October 2020, 37 articles -- is turning into our flagship playlist. This isn't to say that that there will never be a Hometown Highlights blog roundup ever again (the column is where I would pick my favorite local singles, loosies, and album cuts I wasn't writing about elsewhere), but the playlist will be where you can find one song from all local-focused articles being featured on the site (which I'm now publishing far more often than once before).

TLDR: Hometown Highlights is now, primarily, Shuttlecock's flagship new local music playlist.
