Fans of shoegaze can immediately tell upon viewing the swirling pink tones on the cover of They Are Gutting A Body Of Water's Destiny XL album that its songs bear some resemblance to those of subgenre giants My Bloody Valentine. However, the Philadelphia band is far more than sheer Kevin Shields worship. Also involved are bits of Touch And Go indie rock, Midwest emo, glitchy electronic interludes, and other traces of 21st century music making. It's shoegaze for the bedroom pop age, in the best possible way. Catch the band this Monday at Farewell with Nerver and Flooding. It will be loud.

 

Other acts worth catching this week include Sir Michael Rocks, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Sheryl Crow, Glorilla, and The Salvation Choir.
