An excellent British hardcore punk band called DiE once sang, "Life is hate / Life is pain / Life is chains / Life is shame / Life is war." DiE doesn't quite sound like any of the bands playing at Encore on Wednesday (California's Momentum, Abrasion, and Twist of Cain) -- the latter are more hardcore, less punk, but the energy isn't dissimilar. If you feel like a) punching or b) being punched, that is the gig for you this week.
