Premiere: Youth Pool - "Live From The Sunflower State"

David Chavez of Youth Pool
Just over one year ago, Youth Pool released their EP "Dive In" on Sunday Drive Records. As they gear up for EP number two, the Kansas City-based quartet have dropped live recordings of two songs that won't be making the upcoming release. This release is also the first in a series of live "Storage Mart Sessions" recorded by Alex Tunks.

On "Live From The Sunflower State" the band sticks to the shoegaze sound they've possessed since their inception and also show their long-held appreciation for Britpop. Vocalist/guitarist David Chavez points out though that this recording shows the band in a transitional phase in-between the last EP and the next. The songs here are more circular than usual and sit on the edge of becoming actual jams. They still have some of the same gleam and charm their fans enjoy though. Chavez also hints that the upcoming EP will be highly influenced by the sounds of acid house and psych rock.

Catch a rare glimpse at Youth Pool in transition by listening below. Fans in San Antonio, TX can catch the band on June 17th at The Paper Tiger for the Sunday Drive Records showcase.
