Premiere: Youth Pool - "Dive In" EP Stream

Youth Pool at Mills Record Company
Nearing the one year anniversary of the Shuttlecock's first post, I think it's fitting that we're premiering a new EP from one of the artists we've been covering since the beginning. Youth Pool released their four song demo in 2015, did some touring, and played the first Shuttlecock Music Showcase in the first days of 2016. On their new EP titled "Dive In" the band has quickly cemented themselves as Kansas City's premier shoegaze band.

Over the course of five songs, Youth Pool makes the case for the often ridiculed or forgotten sounds of softer '80's and '90's alternative rock. Slow melting track "Ice Water" takes listeners to a dream-like state and gives them a solo from guitarist David Chavez before being gently awakened. Mid-paced songs like "Reality Abuse" and "Tranquilizer" show the influence of bands like Ride and The Jesus And Mary Chain on the group. Whichever tempo they take up, Youth Pool manages to expertly dish out feelings of longing and nostalgia on every song of "Dive In."

Stream "Dive In" below and pre-order it from Sunday Drive Records. It will be available for regular physical and digital purchase on April 29th.
