Khrystal. - "The Glow Up" Stream

Khrystal released her debut EP "Quarter Century Living" four short months ago, but in that time she has already become one of the strongest females in Kansas City's hip-hop scene. As exciting as music pumped with testosterone can be, the powerful self-love messaging purveyed by Khrystal and her friends has been a breath of fresh air. Her new EP, "The Glow Up," is proof of her strong work ethic and her commitment to releasing positive, pro-grade hip-hop and R&B.

The EP's serene first track, "Coco & Shea" floats along until Ogechi stops in to drop a highly confident set of bars and further the theme of Afrocentric love. Before the succinct release comes to a close with the love/hate conflicts of "I Can't With You," a song that is perhaps Khrystal's finest yet sees the light of day. "Don't Be Mad (Free)" is a smooth-sailing, guitar-plucking neo-soul anthem that features a powerful narrative from Khrystal and one of Duncan Burnett's most enlightening verses to date.
