Martin Meyer of Lumpy & The Dumpers |
The Fourth of July was last week, but that didn't keep this hot, summertime punk gig from
poppin' off (along with some leftover firecrackers). Kansas City's
Warm Bodies and St. Louis' Lumpy & The Dumpers held their tour kickoff show at the Harrison Street DIY skate park on Sunday evening to a healthy amount of skaters, slammers, and other onlookers. Warm Bodies chose to serve up a tongue-in-cheek cover of the Dumpers' "
Face The Meat" preceding the band's set, in addition to their own hits. The Dumpers' fellow St. Louisans in Complainer, an two-piece band playing angular and aggressive math rock, tagged along to open. Local support was provided by Nitecrawlers -- one of several new Kansas City punk bands still preparing their demos.
