Champaign, Illinois trio Kowabunga! Kid ended their West coast run with a show at Records With Merritt last night. The group played a short set of fun, squirmy pop-punk for the punks (the ones that showed up; not many). The Drippies played last and whipped out demo favorites "
Bad Boy" and "
Drippies Way," a couple newer tracks from the "Live And Uncut" recording, and unreleased slow-burning jam "
Summertime." Wides made the drive from Lawrence to open the show with their unique brand of extended math rock jams and quick blasts of golden era screamo.
