San Diego surf punk band the Frights played its first ever show in Kansas City at the recordBar on Friday night. The band performed a fun-filled set, sticking mostly to songs from their 2016 album, "You Are Going To Hate This," along with ironic covers of My Chemical Romance, Avril Lavigne, and Smash Mouth songs.

On Drugs kicked off the show with an intriguing grabbing soft-loud dynamic.

King Shelter entertained with danceable surf rock and an abundance of guitar effects.
